Overview

Bæqi Ayû was founded durring the early 14th century in spring of the year 1314, by Garê Tshesí. The establishment of Bæqi Ayû was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Garê Tshesí electing to pay people to resettle in Bæqi Ayû.

Bæqi Ayû was built using the conventions of Wareneese durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Bæqi Ayû is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Bæqi Ayû is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of broad carved bedrock streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town is the proud owner of a thick set of fortified walls fashioned from querried stone blocks. While not up to snuff for a fort or castle wall, the town's walls are naturaly much larger than those of forts or castles. Therefore, the construction such a wall is most expencive. Bæqi Ayû's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. Bæqi Ayû's top tier civilian fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Your first impression of Bæqi Ayû proves to be right on the money. This town is where the rebels chose to settle. Fashion trends are quite simply the opposite of what’s popular in the other nearby communities. THis trend extends everywhere. Things that should be black are white, what would normally be square is organically curved, and what is typically unthinkable for polite society is more than welcome in this public square. Up to the logical limits, of course. There’s no flaying someone alive to eat their skin going on, but the women are dressed a little immodestly, the men are a little more emotional, and the food is all overly complex and terrible.

Civic Infrastructure

Bæqi Ayû has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Bæqi Ayû. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Bæqi Ayû's parks.

Bæqi Ayû has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Bæqi Ayû.

Bæqi Ayû has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Bæqi Ayû's natural decorations nor waterways.

Bæqi Ayû has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Bæqi Ayû has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Bæqi Ayû's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used has a sleek, linear appearance with stylized, often geometric ornamentation. The primary facade of its buildings often featured a series of set backs that create a stepped outline. Low-relief decorative panels can be found at entrances, around windows, along roof edges or as string courses. It was best known for its use of smooth finish building materials such as stucco, concrete block, glazed brick or mosaic tile. Decorative details can incorporate various artistic or exotic motifs to suit the building's function or the architect's whim. Chevrons, zigzags, and other geometrical motifs are common forms of ornament.

In Bæqi Ayû there is no wind.

The Caypup near Bæqi Ayû are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Bæqi Ayû's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves consuming a local toxin to channel Summoning energies of tier 3 via proclamations.
